IR-C radiation. What is this?

The word „infrared radiation“ has a quite positive connotation. But it is essential to regard the sub-divisions of infrared radiation a little bit closer.

Infrared IR-A and IR-B

Due to their relative short wavelength, IR-A and IR-B can penetrate deeper into solid bodies as IR-C.

That’s why these IR divisions can have adverse health effects in the long run. For example for the eyes that can suffer damage looking over a longer period into IR-light. Another example: IR-A or IR-B radiation could cause more wrinkles, premature aging of the skin and – in worst case – malignant cellular alterations.

On the other side, these types of IR radiation are very helpful in the hand of therapists:
Laser applications or wound care treatments are good examples for the positive effects of IR radiation of this division.

 

Infrared IR-C (astra natural stone heating)

 

The IR-C radiation is completely harmless.
It heats up solid bodies such as persons, animals, furniture, walls, ceiling and floor. It can not cause adverse effects for the skin because it penetrates at most the upper and partially dead dermal layers.
The very reverse:
